For Rajini fans, Diwali will be on November 29 this year, for their thalaivar’s much delayed 2.0 will hit the screens on that day.
Making an announcement in this regard, the film’s director Shankar tweeted: “At last the VFX companies promised the final delivery date. The movie will release on Nov 29th 2018.”
On their part, the movie’s producers Lyca Productions posted: “With Great Pride and Immense Excitement announcing the release date of our #MagnumOpus #2Point0 -?? November 29Th, 2018. The film, a sequel to Rajini-Shankar’s 2010 super hit ‘Enthiran’, will mark the debut of Bollywood top star Akshay Kumar in southern cinema, especially in Tamil. Being simultaneously made in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, 2.0 has Amy Jackson as the lead lady, while musical score for the film is by Oscar-Grammy winner A R Rahman.
2.0, which was initially slated to release during Deepavali in 2017, had seen a delay of almost a year, owing to the work involved in special effects.
Written and directed by Shankar, co-written by
Jeyamohan, and produced by Subaskaran Allirajah, the film features Rajinikanth reprising the roles of Dr Vaseegaran and Chitti, alongside Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson.
With an estimated budget of Rs 500 crore, it is the most expensive Indian film made to date.
